The People Behind the Museum

Some of our volunteers have been here for many years. Others joined last summer. Together they give thousands of hours a year, and much of what visitors remember about a trip here traces back to a conversation with one of them.

The Museum of making Music relies heavily on the support of dedicated volunteers. Our volunteers serve in a variety of ways including positions at the front desk, in the galleries, and behind the scenes. Our volunteer team is a special group of supportive and music-loving individuals trained to tell the stories and share the mission of our unique Museum. While we would love to offer a position to everyone who expresses interest in volunteering, we specifically need assistance during the Museum’s open hours (Tuesday – Sunday from 10-5).

Volunteers are required to participate in a rigorous training program that generally takes place each year in the summer months.

*We are currently unable to accept volunteers under the age of 21.
