Carlsbad Family-Friendly Certified

The Museum of Making Music has earned the Family-Friendly Certified designation from the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. Families make up a large share of the people who walk through our doors, so we want every visit to work well for caregivers as much as for kids.

About the Program

The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce administers this voluntary, no-cost program, which community leaders developed together. It recognizes local businesses that create welcoming environments for parents, young children, and caregivers. Participating businesses complete an assessment across five areas: accessibility and physical space, caregiver support and comfort, child-centered experience, health and safety, inclusion, and community participation.

What Families Find Here

Sit & Play areas throughout our galleries invite guests to pick up an instrument and try it themselves. Interactive screens and audio clips demonstrate how each instrument is made and played. Our gift shop carries small instruments too, so the music can keep going at home.
