Meet Our Team: Nicole Blue

We are beyond thrilled to welcome Nicole Blue as the Museum of Making Music’s new Artifacts and Exhibitions Manager. In just a few short weeks, she’s already making a meaningful impact on our team and on the experiences of our visitors.

Nicole grew up in Carlsbad and has a long history with the Museum of Making Music. A classically trained pianist, she studied for sixteen years and regularly performed in voice and piano recitals here at the museum. She later earned her bachelor’s degree in Humanities, with a minor in Music, from San Diego State University. Toward the end of her undergraduate studies, Nicole began volunteering at the museum in 2021. She left in 2022 to pursue her master’s degree—and now she has come full circle, returning to the museum in a professional role she is deeply passionate about.

A recent graduate of Claremont Graduate University, Nicole earned her master’s degree in History and Archival Studies with a concentration in Museum Studies. Her research has consistently focused on music history and its social, cultural, and political impact. Over the past few years, she has contributed to several museums and archives, including the San Diego Museum of Art, the Wende Museum, and the University of California, San Diego.

In her new role at the Museum of Making Music, Nicole will oversee incoming artifacts, catalog and organize the museum’s growing collection, and help shape future exhibitions. She is eager to continue advancing the museum’s mission of connecting people to music and we are equally eager to see all the ways she will help us grow.
