Donations As Energy

Donations As Energy

In the past few months, we've welcomed several amazing new staff members to our museum team. With this new growth, we’re looking ahead with excitement for all that’s to come. First on our list is wrapping up this year and heading into the next full steam ahead. And that begins with our year-end giving campaign.

I often think of money as energy, as something that fuels our work, our progress, and the impact ahead. Thus, every contribution, no matter the size, propels us forward. It helps us accomplish our work more efficiently and creatively. For our visitors, this results in expanded access and broadened pathways leading to a life of more knowledge, more creativity, understanding, and connection.

This coming year, your contributions will help:

  • Provide field trips and transportation for Title 1 students. Your gift helps young people experience the wonder of musical instruments up close. For many, it’s their first museum visit, or the first time they’ve ever held an instrument in their hands. These moments open doors of possibility, where children can begin to find their own place in the world of music.

  • Bring remarkable musicians to our stage. Artists often rarely seen in our region will share their craft in our intimate concert setting, where every seat is a true listening experience. You may be just rows away from a Grammy-winning artist or an emerging jazz trio, hearing not only their music but their stories.

  • Support the creation of new, one-of-a-kind exhibitions. The Museum of Making Music is the only museum in the world that tells the story of music from the perspective of those who create and provide the tools to express ourselves, in our own unique ways, through sound.

  • Sustain our adult music-making programs. North Coast Strings and New Horizons Band bring together hundreds of adults each week to discover, or rediscover music as a source of joy, brain health, expression, accomplishment and community.

  • Offer free Community Days and accessible programs that welcome families, neighbors, and first-time visitors to experience the Museum and make music together.

  • Expand our digital resources, including free downloadable K–12 curriculum and online exhibitions, so that students, teachers, and music lovers everywhere can connect with the stories of the music and sound products industry.

  • Create a dedicated space for Temporary Exhibitions, ensuring that the creative vision and hard work that go into them have a place where visitors can truly experience, enjoy, and understand the stories they tell.

As we celebrate 25 Years Behind Us, Lifetimes Ahead, your generosity ensures that the Museum continues to thrive as a place where people of all ages can explore, learn, reflect, listen, play, and be inspired.

If this mission resonates with you, I invite you to be part of what’s next. Your gift—your energy—helps light the way. And if you’d like to learn more or dive in more deeply, I’d love to connect personally. You can reach me at 760-304-5809 or carolyng@museumofmakingmusic.org.
