Frayser Boy, a Memphis native, came to the attention of prominent hip-hop group, Three 6 Mafia, through a friend. He eventually went to work for them in promotion, but in the background he was working on his lyrical skills. His work impressed the group and they offered him guest appearances on their record label. The initial exposure would help launch his career; leading to many featured collaborations and several solo albums of his own.
At the 78th Academy Awards, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for along with Three 6 Mafia members Juicy J, Crunchy Black, and DJ Paul.
