Jazz guitarist Peter Sprague leads his ensemble through a tour of Paul Simon’s sonic gems. Classics like “Cecilia,” “Hearts and Bones,” “Sound of Silence,” and “You Can Call Me Al” take on a new light with Sprague’s creative arrangements. The band features vocalist Allison Adams Tucker along with Tripp Sprague on sax, Rob Thorsen on bass, Duncan Moore on drums and Peter on guitar. 

Local San Diego guitarist Peter Sprague is known far and wide in the jazz and music community. He is an award-winning guitarist, producer, arranger, teacher, mentor, collaborator, and much more. He has been a guest artist on many records and has performed and toured with Chick Corea, Hubert Laws, Dianne Reeves, David Benoit, Sergio Mendes, and many others. In 2015, Peter was honored with the Lifetime Achievement award at the San Diego Music Awards. He continues to be active publishing music books, delivering online video courses, as well as producing music at his SpragueLand studio in Encinitas.

This event was originally scheduled for April 18, 2020 and featured Danish vocalist Sinne Eeg. Sinne Eeg is not able to perform at this rescheduled event.

Peter Sprague

Local San Diego guitarist Peter Sprague is known far and wide in the jazz and music community.  He is an award-winning guitarist, producer, arranger, teacher, mentor, collaborator and much more. He has been a guest artist on many records and performed and toured with Chick Corea, Hubert Laws, Dianne Reeves, David Benoit, Sergio Mendes and many others.  

Peter taught music at both California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles and the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. He continues to teach every summer at the annual UCSD Jazz Camp in La Jolla, CA.

Peter was involved with the legendary record label GRP Records on a number of projects. He arranged Chick Corea's song "Spain" for the GRP All-Star Big Band record and video. This performance featured Randy Brecker, Lee Ritenour, Dave Weckl, Ernie Watts among many other jazz legends. Peter was featured on David Benoit's GRP releases Letter To Evan and Shaken, Not Stirred. Also on GRP Records, Sprague played on Eric Marienthal’s recording One Touch featuring Russell Ferrante, Jimmy Haslip, Alex Acuna, and Ivan Lins.


COVID-19 SAFETY POLICY FOR CONCERT ATTENDEES

The Museum has updated its COVID-19 safety protocols for all concerts taking place at the Museum of Making Music. Effective immediately, concert attendees will need to do one of the following:

  • Vaccinated patrons will need to present proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, OR...
  • Unvaccinated patrons will need to present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72-hours prior to the event.

What you need to know:

  • To expedite entry to the venue, vaccine proof or negative test results can be emailed in advance to events@museumofmakingmusic.org
  • Proof of vaccination can be presented via vaccine card, photo of card, or Digital COVID-19 Vaccination Record from CA.gov.
  • If presenting documentation at the door, please bring a matching photo ID.
  • Wearing a mask in the building is required for all concert attendees regardless of vaccination status.
  • All concert attendees will also be asked to sign a COVID-19 liability waiver upon arrival.
