North Coast Strings Fall 2023 Session 

North Coast Strings offers three groups for adults age 21 and up: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. No experience is necessary for the Beginner group. The Intermediate group requires at least one year of experience on violin, viola, cello, or bass, and an ability to read music at a basic level. The Advanced group requires several years of experience, proficiency in reading music, and playing in positions.

BEGINNER GROUP

Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 4:00pm – 5:15pm
Single Enrollment Fee: $175

Upper Strings Coach (Violin/Viola): Judy Coker
Lower Strings Coach (Cello/Upright Bass): Joe McNalley

This group is for beginners who are interested in learning how to play violin, viola, cello, or bass. No experience is necessary! 


INTERMEDIATE GROUP

Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 5:30pm – 6:45pm
Single Enrollment Fee: $175

This group is geared to the adult intermediate player who has played violin, viola, cello, or bass for at least one year either recently or sometime in the past. Ability to read music is a must. Repertoire is in the intermediate student range. Focus is on learning repertoire, with limited time spent on technique.


ADVANCED GROUP

Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Single Enrollment Fee: $225

Cello Coach: Gordon Grubbs
Bass Coach: Joe McNalley

This group is for violin, viola, cello, or bass players who are comfortable with their instrument after having played for several years, either recently or in the past, and who have solid music reading and rhythmic skills. Much of the repertoire is learned in its original unarranged form (not simplified), although it is not as advanced as one would find in a community orchestra. Repertoire for the Advanced group includes:

PROGRAM ENROLLMENT

Enrollment is $175 for the Beginner group, $175 for the Intermediate group, and $225 for the Advanced group.

Enroll in two groups and receive a $50 discount!

REGISTRATION

Enrollment will open on August 25, 2023. You can register online using the links at the top of this page, or you can register in person and pay the enrollment fee via check or credit card. Checks should be made out to the Museum of Making Music.
